
Greater Minot Zoological Society
The Greater Minot Zoological Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 1970. It began as a fundraising answer to the 1969 flood. Currently, the board is about 20 members strong. You will see them volunteering, hosting events & selling memberships.
History
The Greater Minot Zoological Society is dedicated to supporting Roosevelt Park Zoo’s efforts to provide a quality zoological park for the enjoyment and education of its visitors through educational programs and displays, conservation awareness, promotion and fund-raising.
The Greater Minot Zoological Society, formerly known as the Minot Zoo Crew, was originally established to provide new homes for the zoo’s large cats. Today, the society is led by a dedicated board of volunteer community members who continue to support and enhance the zoo’s mission.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GMZS BOARD MEMBER:
A strong interest in Roosevelt Park Zoo and its activities
Willingness to contribute time & energy to serve the board; including committees & events
Responsibilities
BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend monthly board meetings the first Thursday of every month
Actively participate in committees & take leadership responsibilities for special events
Contribute time and energy to sell memberships during the spring membership drive
Attend zoo and other community events to represent the GMZS Board of Directors
Be proud of the GMZS & the contribution we make to Roosevelt Park Zoo & the community
Must purchase a GMZS/Roosevelt Park Zoo Annual Membership
The GMZS Board has a limit of 25 members. Should all seats be filled, prospective members are welcome to submit an application each year to remain on the candidate waitlist.
