Get up close with one of nature’s most powerful and majestic creatures in this unforgettable experience! This small-group encounter (limited to 5 guests) offers a fun, educational, and safe opportunity for both guests and the animals. Held indoors, participants will have the chance to feed a tiger using a food stick under expert supervision.

During the presentation, guests will learn about:

• Our resident tigers and their individual stories

• Unique traits and behaviors of tigers in general

• The Species Survival Plan (SSP) and the role of responsible breeding

• Conservation efforts for wild tigers and how Roosevelt Park Zoo contributes

• Hands-on education with biofacts including whiskers, claw sheds, and a skull replica

For the safety of both guests and animals, all interactions take place through protected contact and no direct physical contact is permitted.

Okapi Encounter

Step into the Okapi Barn for a rare opportunity to meet one of the most elusive animals on the planet. This small-group experience (limited to 5 guests) behind the scenes, depending on weather and season. Led by zoo leadership and a qualified keeper, you’ll learn all about okapi behavior, adaptations, and their conservation story—including RPZ’s support of the Giraffe SAFE programs and the Okapi Conservation Foundation.

Penguin Encounter

Get an insider’s look at our penguin colony during a special visit to the Penguin Building. The group is limited to 5 due to space. Led by zoo staff, this encounter covers everything from penguin biology and breeding to conservation efforts through African Penguin SAFE.

It’s a great chance to learn, ask questions, and support penguin conservation in a personal way.

Guidelines

By participating in a Unique Animal Encounter, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

• Animal welfare is our top priority. Roosevelt Park Zoo reserves the right to cancel or modify the experience at any time for the well-being of the animals.

• Animal participation is voluntary. Each animal chooses whether to participate in the encounter.

• Guest conduct is essential. Guests must follow all instructions from Animal Care staff. Failure to comply with rules may result in removal from the experience without refund.

• Zoo admission is required and not included in the encounter fee.
